It's important to MAKE SURE your new Shoulder Mount or wall displayed Lifesize Mount is properly secured on the wall.
Your new mount will come with hanger(s) mounted on the back (mounts with multiple hangers will have a 16" on center spread for wall stud measurements you may need to adjust the hangers if wall studs aren't 16" on center).
For Hanging Deer, Antelope and Small Lifesize Sized Mount's (Fox, Coyote, EX.) we recommend a 3" - 3.5" screw securely placed in a WALL STUD (I cannot stress this enough make sure your Screw(s) are in wall studs).
For Hanging Elk, Moose and Large Lifesize Sized Mount's (Bear, Mountain Lion, EX.) We recommend a 3/8" Lag Bolt securely placed in a WALL STUD. (I cannot stress this enough make sure your Lag Bolt(s) are in wall studs).
On hollow hair mounts such as Deer, Elk, Antelope & Moose.
Once a year we recommend a cleaning solution of Dawn dish soap and water.
(Avoid harsh chemicals)
Using a lightly damp rag wipe down your entire mount in the direction of the hair flow DO NOT go against the hair!
You can also use the solution to clean the antlers / horns.
Avoid painted area's such as, around the eye's, nose pad & lip line.
-
On long hair or fur mounts such as Black Bear or Red Fox use an air compressor to blow out dust and fluff the fur as needed.
DO NOT use an air compressor on hollow hair mounts such as - Elk, Deer, Antelope and Moose.
Extra Tip - The eyes in your mount are glass. When yearly cleaning your mount get one side of a Q tip lightly wet with water and wipe the entire eye. Then use the dry side to remove the excess water and watch the eyes come back to life!
UV rays will discolor your mount so when picking a spot to display your new trophy avoid area's with direct sunlight.
Display your mount away from wood burning stoves and or any heat source (to prevent singeing the hair).
Also be aware that cigarette and cigar smoke will damage and discolor your mount.
Places with no temperature control such as attics, basements and storage units for long periods of time can cause damage to your mount.
Also long storage periods can cause bug & mice damage so we caution you on long term storage.
Cats & Dogs think your new mount is a chew toy so keep it out of reach from your pets.
While it’s normal to touch your trophy every once in awhile, over petting can disrupt hair patterns and over time cause possible hair fall out.
Rug note: Rugs are intended to hang on the wall, do not walk on your rug and remember this isn't a Hollywood Movie so don't wrestle on them either you will cause serious hair fall out.
We hope this helps and of course if you have any questions feel free to give us a call.
